About the class

A 6-week programme designed to help you thrive through your perimenopause and beyond into the Second Spring of life.

Open to people of all ages and levels of experience wanting to learn more, alleviate symptoms, and become empowered in our supportive community.

Led by our local GP with a specialist interest in the Menopause, British Menopause Society Member, and experienced yoga instructor, Dr Celia Swan.

Each class includes specific Asanas (physical postures), Pranayama (breathwork), and mindfulness to help you cope with the main menopausal symptoms whist building self awareness, insight and confidence.

I use a combination of western medical science, eastern wellbeing, my own experiences and those of the 1000s of women whom I have worked with, to empower you with the awareness and skills needed to thrive during this time of transition and beyond.

There will be an opportunity for discussions and for a cup of tea after class if you fancy.

The programme will be tailored to the needs of the group. Some areas I would be excited to share with you include:

Week 1: Tuning in to feelings and fluctuations -awareness - Pratyahara.

Week 2: Calm and cool - dealing with excess heat- balancing your nervous system – the Nadis

Week 3: Transitioning with kindness-dealing with rage and irritability- Ahimsa

Week 3: Unleashing your energy - helping with brain fog, insomnia, fatigue - Brahmacarya

Week 4: Blossoming from the inside out - confidence and joy –Sushumna

Week 5: Strength with softness – bone health, strength and self care- Sthira- Skukha

Week 5: Consolidation and flourish

About Dr Celia Swan

Dr Celia is a practising GP with a Menopause clinic within her regular NHS practice. She is passionate about using a rainbow of tools to help you flourish through this time of change.

She is currently training to be a Menopause Specialist and is a member of the British Menopause Society with her recent research on HRT being published by the BMS.

She started teaching yoga in 2010 and has since become an Advanced Yoga Alliance Certified Teacher and Advanced Forrest Yoga Teacher. She currently teaches Forrest Yoga at OrangeYoga.

Due to the nature of the Crescent Bakery building, it's ideal to wear layers of clothing for cooler / warmer fluctuations.

Please note Workshops will be refunded only if we can find someone to take your place. Obviously, we will take account of exceptional circumstances.
