About the class

What is a chakra? How can knowledge of the chakra system enhance our yoga practice? And how can we use the chakra system to become happier, healthier and more vibrant in our bodies and in our lives?

In our third workshop in the Chakra Immersion series we’ll explore the Manipura (Solar Plexus) Chakra and delve into harnessing personal power and confidence. Located at the core of your being, Manipura governs our self-esteem, willpower, and sense of identity. Explore practices to balance and activate this chakra. Empower yourself, tap into your courage and radiate inner strength.

Join Annet and Laura to explore the fascinating, mysterious and controversial chakra system in an accessible and engaging way. You can drop in to one workshop, or attend the full series for a complete overview of the 7 chakra system.

There is conflict and conjecture surrounding the interpretation of the chakras, so these sessions will include theory but be primarily experiential so that all attendees will get the opportunity for self-reflection and to feel what does (and doesn’t!) resonate for themselves. Expect to learn, feel, question and hopefully have some fun along the way!

These workshops are suitable for curious students and for yoga teachers and trainees who would like a greater depth of understanding than is possible in the 200 hr training.

Each workshop will include:

* Theory and background specific to the chakra in focus, including a discussion of both ancient and modern interpretations of the chakras and their suggested links with anatomy, psychology and a wide range of other associations.

* Asana (postures).

* Pranayama (breathing practices).

* Mudra (hand gestures).

* Mantra (repeated words to aid concentration) and affirmations.

* Meditation.

* The opportunity for self-reflection and discussion.

About Laura Knightly Brown:

Laura has been teaching yoga for 8 years and has been an avid student of all things “wellbeing” for 20 years, after a stay at a wellness retreat in Thailand sparked her initial interest. She is driven to explore how to use both ancient wisdom and modern science to find tools that can help people thrive.

Right back in her school days, Laura was interested in both science and the arts, studying A-Levels in Biology, Maths and English, and then going on to gain an MA in English Literature and Language from Oxford University. For 7 years, Laura worked for the retreat company, Wildfitness, alongside pioneers of the natural health and fitness world. In 2015, Laura read her first books on Positive Psychology (the “science of human flourishing”) and has since completed four separate courses on the subject.

Laura loves yoga for the way it combines the physical, mental and spiritual, creating an holistic system for achieving vibrant health in body, mind and soul. Yoga is a path to self-knowledge, and understanding ourselves is arguably the most powerful thing we can do to enhance our wellbeing. By combining the ancient wisdom of yoga with more recent developments in psychology and science, we can find illuminating tools for self-enquiry.
