Yoga Nidra helps to reduce stress, feelings of anxiety aiding deep physical and emotional healing.
You can use your usual class passes.
Yoga nidra or 'Yogic sleep' is a guided meditation which softly and gently folds you into your consciousness and sends you deep into a parasympathetic nervous system state aka 'rest and repair'.
The body will be totally relaxed in a reclined, or semi reclined position and we will gradually move into a deep state of 'no thought mind', by gradually moving your attention around the nerve rich centres of the body. The aim here is not to fall asleep, rather to withdraw almost completely (but not quite) from all 5 of the senses.
The whole session will be completely guided, with extended periods of silence between instruction to allow you to experience the full effect.
Yoga nidra has been shown to improve chronic pain and has also been used in the US army to help military personnel with PTSD by improving their symptoms of stress. It has also been shown to improve heart function, especially heart rate variability. It works by increasing the dopamine levels in the brain, reducing stress, feelings of anxiousness and aiding deep healing, physical and emotional.
Please wear very comfortable, loose fitting clothing and layers like a jumper and socks and bring a blanket as it might get chilly in the studio - it is essential that you are very comfortable and the right temperature for this practice.
For this class - please bring any props you might need including bolsters and blocks, your mat and water bottle.
** PRACTICAL BITS **
Due to the nature of the Crescent Bakery building, it's ideal to wear layers of clothing for cooler / warmer fluctuations.
