About the class

What is a chakra? How can knowledge of the chakra system enhance our yoga practice? And how can we use the chakra system to become happier, healthier and more vibrant in our bodies and in our lives?

Join Annet and Laura for a deep dive into the Anahata (Heart) Chakra. The Heart Chakra is the centre of unconditional love, empathy, and emotional balance, serving as the bridge between the physical and spiritual realms. By opening and balancing Anahata, we invite greater harmony in relationships, deepen our capacity for forgiveness, and cultivate self-love. This chakra encourages us to heal past wounds, embrace vulnerability, and radiate love, both toward ourselves and others, allowing for a deeper sense of connection and compassion in our lives.

This immersive session will include:

- An introduction to the chakra in focus.

- Two short flows of asana (postures) designed to connect you to the chakra in focus. One flow will be more enlivening and the other will be slower to help you absorb and reflect.

- Pranayama (breathing practices).

- Mudra (hand gestures).

- Mantra (repeated words to aid concentration) and affirmations.

- Meditation.

- The opportunity for self-reflection (journalling optional) and discussion.

This session is suitable for anyone interested in the chakra system and self-enquiry (curious students and yoga teachers/ trainees). Expect to learn, feel, question and have some fun along the way!

About Laura Knightly Brown :

Laura has been teaching yoga for 8 years and has been an avid student of all things “wellbeing” for 20 years, after a stay at a wellness retreat in Thailand sparked her initial interest. She is driven to explore how to use both ancient wisdom and modern science to find tools that can help old_people thrive.

Right back in her school days, Laura was interested in both science and the arts, studying A-Levels in Biology, Maths and English, and then going on to gain an MA in English Literature and Language from Oxford University. For 7 years, Laura worked for the retreat company, Wildfitness, alongside pioneers of the natural health and fitness world. In 2015, Laura read her first books on Positive Psychology (the “science of human flourishing”) and has since completed four separate courses on the subject.

Laura loves yoga for the way it combines the physical, mental and spiritual, creating an holistic system for achieving vibrant health in body, mind and soul. Yoga is a path to self-knowledge, and understanding ourselves is arguably the most powerful thing we can do to enhance our wellbeing. By combining the ancient wisdom of yoga with more recent developments in psychology and science, we can find illuminating tools for self-enquiry.
