About the class

Laurent invites you to a new weekend of training dedicated to the breath, this time with a clear focus on how to prepare and condition the body for healthier, more efficient breathing and enhance respiratory function.

Our breathing depends on the mobility and coordination of two vital sections within the torso: the upper part, which includes the ribcage, shoulders, and chest, and the lower part, comprising the abdomen, diaphragm, and pelvis, all of which support and sustain respiratory muscles, structures, vital organs, and functions.

When either area is restricted or compromised, breathing becomes shallow and more difficult, posture and some functions become weakened, and both physical and emotional health can be affected.

In modern life, long hours spent at desks and on screens, stress and tension, as well as respiratory conditions such as Asthma or serious illnesses, can cause stiffness and restrictions in the chest, diaphragm, abdomen, and pelvic floor.

This can lead to shallow breathing, digestive problems, fatigue, poor sleep, and emotional imbalance.

How can physical practice, blended with breathing techniques, help and support us?

In this unique, practical, and therapeutic CPD weekend, Laurent will share his innovative combination of physical techniques and practices, designed to free and prepare the body for improved breathing and respiratory function.

You will explore:

- An understanding of anatomy is necessary to clarify respiratory structures and their functions.

- Examples of body reading and breath assessment to identify limitations and guide progress with students.

- Laurent’s distinctive approach to yoga, Somatics, and movement aims to restore awareness, posture, and mobility in the chest and pelvis, thereby aiding the natural flow of breath.

- Innovative Fascial release using props and strategies to free connective tissue and accessory muscles around the ribcage, diaphragm, and core.

- Specific Breathwork and pranayama techniques for both upper and lower breathing, enhancing diaphragm mobility, lung capacity, ribcage expansion, and abdominal vitality.

- Touch, self-massage, and tapping to awaken sensation, improve awareness and circulation, and release energy held in the body.

- Meditation and visualisation to connect with inner spaciousness, groundedness, vagal tone, and a calmer nervous system.

You will also learn how efficient breathing and healthy respiratory structures support overall wellbeing, including digestion, respiratory health, cardiovascular health, immunity, and emotional resilience.

Who is this for?

This CPD weekend is ideal for yoga and breathwork teachers, therapists, healthcare providers, and bodyworkers, as well as anyone experiencing breathing restrictions, digestive tension, or stress-related tightness in the torso.

This training also serves as an additional module for anyone who has previously studied with Laurent during his online training or past CPD weekends at OrangeYoga Studio.

Takeaway:

You will leave with straightforward, repeatable practices and professional tools to help your own breathing be fuller, your body feel freer, and your students’ nervous systems and wellbeing more at ease.

You will also be provided with written handouts covering the themes and topics of the weekend.
