About the class

Behind every pose, breath, and transition lies the most powerful driver of movement, the brain.

This three-day course explores how applied neuroscience can transform the way we teach and practise yoga. You’ll learn the foundations of neuroanatomy and discover how key regions, the cerebellum, brainstem, visual and vestibular systems, and more, shape balance, coordination, posture, and embodied awareness.

Through a blend of theory and practice, we’ll translate complex neuroscience into simple, practical drills that integrate seamlessly into yoga.

Expect to move, explore, and leave with a fresh perspective on how the nervous system influences not just performance, but also resilience, confidence, and wellbeing.

* Day 1 – The Nervous System Unpacked.

We begin with the foundations: how the nervous system actually works and why it is the true driver of movement, posture, and performance.

You’ll learn how the brain receives inputs (from interoception, proprioception, and exteroception), interprets them, and creates outputs, the process behind every yoga pose, breath, and transition.

This session gives you the key knowledge to create massive impact with your clients by working with the brain, not against it.

* Day 2 – The Cerebellum, Neural Flossing, and Breathing for the Brain.

The cerebellum, often called the “little brain”, is the powerhouse of coordination, rhythm, and precision. On this day, we’ll explore its role in movement refinement and discover practical ways to train it through balance, timing, and flow drills.

You’ll also learn neural flossing techniques to mobilise nerves and improve communication throughout the body, alongside breathing practices that directly stimulate brain function and enhance clarity, calm, and resilience.

* Day 3 – Brainstem, Cranial Nerves, Vision and Vestibular Training.

The final day dives into the brainstem, the control centre for posture, arousal, and survival reflexes, and its connection to the cranial nerves. You’ll explore how subtle drills for the eyes, tongue, and jaw can profoundly shift stability and awareness. We’ll also cover the visual and vestibular systems, the twin pillars of balance and orientation. Through practical drills, you’ll learn how to sharpen these systems to transform not only your yoga practice, but also everyday movement and falls prevention.
