Understand your bones, protect your practice - a research-based deep dive into bone health, osteoporosis, and how yoga can help.
For teachers (and interested students).
- £25 -
This workshop looks at bone health, how it can be optimised, and how the role of yoga can be seen in this process: yoga’s strengths as well as its limitations.
We will study anatomy, diagnosis and treatment options for reduced bone density, prevention and potential reversal of osteoporosis, - all of this based on the latest research and discussion.
In recent years there have been a variety of approaches as to what should and should not be done in yoga and exercise, if someone has been diagnosed with osteopenia or osteoporosis, and how to enable safe participation in class.
What advice is useful for whom? How can we incorporate increased and more varied loading of the bones and fall prevention into our yoga practice and daily movement?
The session will be a mix of lecture, discussion and practical exercises. Detailed hand-outs are provided.
