Liz brings yoga to everyone, no elitism, no pedestals. She's a guide on the side, not a sage on the stage. This course welcomes beginners' mind - teacher, trainee, or seeker - come with an open mind and heart.
Grit & Pearl. Somatic Experiencing Within Yoga Practice.
We explore ceasing striving. Acceptance (santosha) is the cornerstone of wellbeing - standing on the edge of the seashore with what is, wot ev's. Somatic experiencing through a soft lens: slowing down allows us to compost down our terrain, to sense into the layers (koshas) beneath the surface.
Joining Versus Merging.
The root of compassion is compassion for oneself (Pema Chödrön). How to care without compassion fatigue. Through boundary exercises, you'll learn to be present without merging into students' problems.
Creative sequencing is a hallmark of practice. Liz's book, 1001 Pearls of Yoga Wisdom, underpins the whole weekend - offering yoga practices, philosophical gems, breathing practices and meditations to cycle through a day, its different weather systems, and seasons of life. The book provides specific references for practice based on philosophy and primary source texts, balanced with contemporary philosophy.
Handouts will be given for each sequence. Book for sale £12.
** PRACTICAL BITS **
Due to the nature of the Crescent Bakery building, it's ideal to wear layers of clothing for cooler / warmer fluctuations.
